Drooling Across The Miles

Today, I don't get to play with my American friends.

In England, there is no Thanksgiving.

But I was raised well, and find there's plenty to be thankful for:

My family.
My friends.
My health.
My job (in these uncertain times).
Domino's Mighty Meaty with jalapeños and double sauce, hold the onions. Large, for preference.

I am also very thankful for all the support I have received at this not-so-humble blog since I started in May. We're an insecure lot, us bloggers. Or maybe it's just me? I couldn't do it without an audience and an occasional slap on the back.

So thanks to every last one of you.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinners. I am very jealous.

I shall sit by my window, and dream of Turkey.

Sunset in Istanbul, Turkey

  1. Yes, there is a lot to be thankful for. Although you and I don't have an official day for doing it, I can still wish you a happy one.

  6. That's just so true! There are just too many things to be thankful about!

    Nice turkey! Is it edible?

Happy Thanksgiving to all! (Even though we don't celebrate it in India)

  7. I am thankful that I found your blog!!

We Canadians celebrate our Thanksgiving in October, so I dont get one today either :)

BUT...I would give it all up in a second to live in England and not have one!

  8. Hi 'Nosha! My friends in Hyderabad got a public holiday yesterday, I hope you did too!

Hey Kato, you're too kind. It's just a bit o' whimsy. As for England, careful what you wish for. We're not the nation we once were. If I had a free hand, I'd be overseas; Canada always appealed ;>

Hey Robbie, go write more story!

    Thanks one and all! Indigo

  13. Hi Nancy, ah yes, the "L-word" - the remains that shall not speak their name in my house. Never been a fan, but then I never cook for more than four people, so it's much easier to judge. Turkey sandwiches aren't Leftovers though; with a little gravy they are serious treats to look forward to tomorrow *tummy rumbles*

Hey Kitty, there's wisdom. Hope you liked the picture =) And by the way, I'm a gentle soul, so you can call me Mr. Roth, Indigo, Loretta (weekends only), or the ever-useful HEY YOU!

    Sunday tomorrow! Indigo

  14. I have had turkey... I like it. Though it's kind of bland, even compared to chicken, but I like it in the Subways subs.

I am really thankful of the end of the 2nd term exams (Tell me about a student who wouldn't be?).
Oh well, would someone explain why do we celebrate Thanksgiving? The whole idea has piqued my curiosity!!!

  15. Hi 'Nosha! That thin, processed turkey you get in subs is no substitute for a thick slice straight from the roasted bird. With gravy. Oh my yes, with gravy. *drools* I'm delighted to say that, as a 41-year-old, I no longer have to do formal exams, though life tends to be one long test with no published syllabus. As for Thanksgiving, you'd best ask an American. It involved Native Americans, Pigrim Fathers and a Turkey, but I'm sketchy on details. Indigo
