Taking That First Step

A week ago, I ran up the stairs laughing, excited that I had a Domino's Pizza box in my hands. A hot, fresh, delicious Mighty Meaty, hold the onions, extra olives and jalapeƱos!

It doesn't get much better than this!

But as I munched away, I reflected that it was a shame to eat alone, and wondered if I really ought to get out more?

A few days ago, I sat excitedly anticipating the delivery of my new cellphone. A cool, powerful, sexy little HTC Legend! A perfect fit for my technology needs, delivered to my door in less than a day!

It doesn't get much better than this!

But as I sat there all giddy, I reflected that I used to get excited about doing things with real people, and again wondered if I really ought to get out more?

So last night, I drove down to London, and felt excited and nervous. But not about food. And not about technology. I was excited and nervous about meeting up with a new online friend, and catching up with some old friends too.

We were all off out for a curry!* A fun night out, we'd have some laughs and a few drinks, and chat about all kinds of cool things.

Indigo - Bianca - iDifficult - Fran - Robbie[* Of course, when iDifficult says that you're off to the Taj Mahal for some authentic Indian food, don't think for one moment that he means the curry house in the high street.]

I had an fantastic time with good food and great friends.

It really doesn't get much better than this.

I'll make a point of getting out more often.

  4. This is a great post! I had to laugh everytime you said It cant get better than this! But it was also inspiring to read your "butts" well, not you buttock, I mean your but-s.

I am glad you had a great time with hot steaming pizza, a new toy and great friends!

  5. Hi Leah! Yeah, but I forget. Male. Short attention span. Easily distracted. Sorry, what was I saying?

Hey Nancy! We're in total disarray this morning, with everyone losing. It's like on of those reality shows. Everyone knew what the result should have been, but the voting public are so damned fickle. I suspect they may try and do it alone. The phone's on the hook, though.

Hey Robbie! Never a truer word said, my friend. Thanks for a fab one!

Hey Eolist! You did indeed. But I was very nervous 'til I realised, probably gabbled like a loon 'til 'Difficult turned up with a horse pill sedative for me.

Hey Ao14! Glad it hit the spot! And yes, I realise that I'm a lucky lad in so many ways.

    Thanks one and all! Indigo

  8. lol you sure love your pizza huh? I have read a lot of blogs of yours that end or begin with and then i ate dominos pizza plus all the details of how yummy it is...are you sure you aren't their sales rep or something, disguised as an awesome blogger just to convert other pizza eaters over to Dominoes??? yes, I am on to you my friend!!! Be warned!

  9. You know, it really doesn't get any better than that.

  10. Hey 'Grumpy! Thai? Not my favourite, I must say. In the spectrum of world cuisine, I'd rather take one step to either side, to Chinese or Indian. Red and green curry don't work for me, I always think of the food I'd rather have eaten.

Hey Ms. Fin! Thank you, it was a corking evening. If you ever visit the UK, you'd be our guest of honour. And I must come to Florida to try some Cuban cuisine sometime.

Hey Ms. Naked! Sadly I'm unconnected with the mighty Domino's. Worse yet, they still don't sponsor my blog! They get enough mentions, as you've noted. Bastards.

Hey Jen! You are wise woman. I salute you.

    Thanks one and all! Indigo

  11. A new HTC huh? I'm torn between that and an iPhone. Maybe I need a new life too.

  12. DOMINO'S PIZZA. If I hadn't known it without a doubt before, my friend, I would know it for sure now; you have amazing tastes! Domino's Pizza is the best you can get--as far as large chains go. Simply amazing. Even the crust is joyously compelling! Oh, I could think about Domino's Pizza all day...

  13. Dominos? You have domino's? I'm surprised.
And? come over for some southern bbq....

  14. Psst! Madame DaFarge! I've never used an iPhone in anger, and can't really compare; I suspect every other phone chases the iPhone to some extent. But I am utterly delighted with the HTC DESIRE; I've never liked a phone THIS much when I got it. FYI, it seems to be a much better spec than the HTC LEGEND/HERO/HD, and offers a few extra niceties on the interface. ORANGE mess with some functions (as ever), but it's still fab.

Hey Scott! What can I say? When they get it right (90% of the time) it's heaven. Like no other fast food I know.

Hey Jen! Man, they're everywhere, even as far as Australia, though they have a disturbing tendency there to make all of their pizzas with bbq sauce; I'm old fashioned when it comes to such things. And yes, southern bbq sounds gooooood.

    Thanks one and all! Indigo

  15. What? You mean that bloggers are real people? That you can go out to eat with? Damn! You've opened my eyes to all sorts of new possibilities! (And it's been a long time since I had a good curry.)

  16. Gadgets are good, and great food - yeah, everyone's got to eat, but real people make your world go round.
