No Distinguishing Features

I've felt recently that life does not contain enough intellectual rigour.

On a typical day, I rarely encounter much that requires me to rub more than a handful of brain cells together. I mean, do I walk to work or drive? Wear blue socks or black? Or order a Mighty Meaty pizza with jalapeños or a Pepperoni Passion with black olives? Or both? *

* I know, a total no-brainer.]

You see the problem. And it worries me. I don't want to lose my razor-keen mind; I may need it sometime.

Someone suggested that a white jigsaw might be the way to go. Have you seen those? One thousand similar-looking pieces, with no distinguishing features beyond edge pieces? I love jigsaws, have endless patience, and it would be a real brain-tickler of a challenge.

But no, I need more.

As you may know know, I'm an old hand at the Rubik's Cube. What could be more of a challenge than taking The Cube to the next level?

The ultimate brain-tickler?It's my own design, and I can't put it down.

I'm sticking close to the phone in case Parker Brothers call.

Thanks, Indigo

  1. I don't think you need to worry about your razor keen mind....it's still as sharp as ever and operating on a level most of us will never reach.

    eerrrrrr - maybe a grey cell or two have mapped into the wrong position? Clear and obvious issues here. Then again it might suit the shlaakhaHs of the universe. YAM xx

    1. Namaste Yam! Hey, the jury might be out at Parker Brothers, but avant garde thinking often baffles business types. And I happily count myself amongst the shlaakhaHs of the universe! ;) Indigo x

  4. I think you may have something with that cube. And I completely agree with Delores. Your mind could cut through glass.

  5. You should be a school governor. You'll never worry about an underused mind again.

    1. Hey Z! I did dabble in it once, but was driven away by the hopeless bureaucracy of the group in place, who seemed to have more interest in protocol and process than helping kids =( Anyway, who says my mind is underused?! Ooooh look, a squirrel! Indigo x

  6. A thousand-piece blank white jigsaw might well exercise spacial imagination and cognitive acuity, but without regard for sanity. I'd look into it a bit further.

    1. Hey Geo! The jigsaw I saw was shaped like a puddle of spileld milk. The edges were curved and undulating, and there was a round hole in the middle. So, even when you had the edges, you weren't sure which edge they belonged to. Yikes. Indigo
