Dashing For The Line

Can you see it? Look, over there! The finishing line!

Okay, so here we are, poised for me to finish up on the 30 Days Of Photography Challenge. The mutant ankle-biter of bloggers Ziva and Mike, this challenge sets a different topic every day for a month; one topic, one photo, every day.

Two weeks ago, I did the first fourteen days as a single entry. Yes, I'm a foolish lad, with naked ambition.

Last week, I did another seven. Did you hear me roar?

And now, it's time for the back nine. Tiger Woods would be proud.

So now, we're almost done. It's been a blast, kids. By which I mean I feel I've been blown up, shot at, pushed through the wringer and roundly whipped in the course of the month.

But what is life without a few trials?

I Blame Ziva.

You know, I really must get that printed on a t-shirt.

Day 22 – Neutral

"High above the world, the moon looked down. She witnessed everything that happened in the howling dark, but offered no comment, opinion, or intervention. Truly she was a neutral presence."

Day 23 – Underwater

As the light of life faded, the last thing she saw was his face gazing down at her through the water.

Day 24 – M&Ms

Look, for once I have to blame Mike; I'm not foolish enough to blame Ziva for standing with my mouth open. No, Sir.

Day 25 – Video

Listen to the words, people. This line is mostly filler.

Day 26 – Heart

I visited my home town recently, and was dismayed to see much of its centre being demolished to make way for New Things. I was partly dismayed because I am a Mistruster of Things Unproven. But mostly it was because they were tearing the heart out of my town.

Day 27 – Kafkaesque

Look, if you don't understand, explaining it won't help. Like a dog!

Day 28 – Autumn

I'm rather proud of this.

Day 29 – The City

"Beneath a brilliant blue sky, the grey city toiled.
The sky wanted the people to look up, to feel inspired, but they did not.
They continued to look down at the grey tedium of their lives,
And the rough road beneath their feet."

Day 30 – Blackout

Kidnap victim? Kinkster? Or just really bad at putting a tie on?

The choice is yours.

  1. Fabulous work, Indigo.

Your photo for "heart" makes me sad too.

    1. Hey Mia! Thank you. The town is old and tired and in desperate need of rejuvenation. But it was still tough, knowing places I'd been, things from my memory, were no longer there. Is this what being older feels like? ;) Indigo x

    2. To quote one of my favourite artists, Kent, "you know you've become old when your youth starts to sparkle like Allen's Manhattan." ;)

    3. I'm fairly sure I've just been insulted. Come closer, Z.

    4. Hah!! No way am I coming closer, I saw what you did to that poor camera in your "underwater" photo. ;)

    5. It's okay, you can trust me.

  2. "Underwater" is very apt for Halloween!

Love the leaves of autumn. Ours are gorgeous here too.

    1. Hey Jen! I'm still quite disturbed by that photo myself. It's a little known fact that I have an underwater video camera; if I were drowning you in a foot of water in my bath, that's what I'd look like ;) Sleep well. Indigo x

    2. Do you mind sharing why you had the underwater video camera to begin with? Some innocuous reason, I assume :)

    3. Bought it to film fish in Corfu. And ladies in bikinis. No wait, the first one is a lie.

  3. An "I Blame Ziva" t-shirt? I'm not sure if this is the worst idea you've ever had, or the most brilliant... ;)

Now, the photos.. You have some of the most original photos of the entire challenge here, Indigo. Neutral is just beautiful. Underwater is both frightening and brilliant, really makes me feel like you're drowning me. But in a nice way. I think.

I'm glad you didn't blame M&M's on me, because you know how I feel about you chewing with your mouth open. That said, it's fairly brilliant in terms of originality.

The video - I always love a nice British accent, and I'm very happy you wore your suit for the ducks. You're right, they deserve nothing less.

Heart, is perfect in black and white, and really heart-breakinly sad, when you think about it...

Kafkaesque - love it! And it must have taken ages to process. It was worth it in the end, though.

Autumn is lovely. I've told you this before, but lines appeal to me, and this photo has lots. The yellow against the grey, the few stray leaves that seem almost white, it's a lovely photo.

The City - this is a beautiful and sad piece of writing, accompanied perfectly by the photo. Great job.

Blackout - Ohh my! I definitely know what I think it is... No, I won't share, this is a family blog. Brilliant idea, Indigo!

    1. Hey Z! Wowsers, m'love, that's what I CALL a comment. Everyone else, please note Ziva's thorough examination of the facts. Please write down "Roth is brilliant, a genius." That will be on the final exam.

A few thoughts, other than the obvious "thank you, Z!":

      - I would never drown you. Even nicely. TNT in a hot dog bun would be far more Wile E. Coyote.
      - The video? Never mind my dreamy accent, what about those cool ducks?! Their quacks were nectar to my ears. Ugh. Do you have a cotton bud?
      - Thank you for understanding and empathising over HEART; it's very much appreciated.
      - You liked KAFKAESQUE? Thank you. Next time, you need to do ROTHESQUE. Look, it's a word. Ask Mike.
      - I hoped you would enjoy the structure of AUTUMN, especially after RULES from last time. Svarta Linjer?
      - THE CITY was my home town, but the words were a bit Kafkaesque don't you think?
      - As for BLACKOUT, I cannot confirm or deny things I did not see. Tho you tied it just right.

Oh, and I'll get to work on the t-shirt.

      Thanks, Z! Roth x
