You all know me, right?
I like to write fluff, whimsies that cheer the days along.
Lions, and badgers, and bears, oh my.
I have little to grumble about, my life is easy.
I have security, money and prospects, family and friends.
Today I'm fine, and most likely will be tomorrow.
I'm a very lucky guy.
Not everyone is so lucky.
Shit, as they say, happens.
Some days there are no laughs, and precious little solace.
I love my friends, and I stand by them on bad days.
Someone else could do it, but I choose to.
It's important, even if we can't always affect the outcome.
We can place ourselves in the way of change.
We can stand ready to help a friend as life carries them along.
A little help is worth a lot of pity, as my mother would say.
Sometimes we make things worse, tho we don't mean to.
We may not even be needed in the end.
But the act makes a difference.
The effort is important.

Couldn't agree more, my friend.
ReplyDeleteGot to stand by those you love and give a hand where you can. Absolutely right Indigo.
ReplyDeleteNicely put
ReplyDeleteVery well said, sir.
ReplyDeleteand for this, my friend, i thank you...
ReplyDeleteLooking back, there are a few "worst times in my life" that I can recall. I can't recall any "worst times" when someone was there in my way... even though I know there were situations far more dire than my "worst times" - those had a friend in them. It really does make a difference just knowing somebody is standing there - and will still be on the other side of it, what ever *it* may be.
ReplyDeleteYour mom was a wise woman! I'm going to appropriate that quote in the future, and I'll try to remember to footnote 'Indigo's mom'.
ReplyDeleteYou're a fine humanoid, my friend!
Silly me... here I was isolating myself while all of you were here to provide some solace. Thanks for being here, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHey Boom Boom! Myself and the badgers stand ready to assist! Keep some cans of worms at hand, they may come in useful... Indigo
