  2. I must be a simple creature as I'm frequently fickle and easily scared. And I do love fireflies.

    1. Hey Jen! Thank you! Both were intended, but it remains to be seen how I feel about this one in six months' time. Right now? Not sure. Indigo x

    1. Hey Mia! Again, thanks. Actually, isn't Princeton up in your neck of the woods? You're New Jersey, right? This was part of a brief-but-epic journey that I blogged about; in fact, I may have to rerun it. This could be part five?! Indigo x

    1. Hey Kato! Thank you. Wait. What? "Imagination"? You think I make this stuff UP?! Good grief, you wait 'til I turn up with Max and the badgers in tow; that'll show you. And most of Toronto. (It's okay, we'll put it back after) Indigo x

  9. Nobody does this kind of charming, other-worldly storytelling better than you do. I, too, love the name "the Groundskeeper," and everything else about this piece. Thank you for transporting me to such a magical place.

    1. Hey Jayne! You know, I'd be very happy with "Charming Other-Worldly" as my pigeonhole/genre. That and the occasional bit of "Elephant God Noir", as Peggy once suggested. Thanks for the kind words, I'm truly flattered. Indigo x

  10. Beautiful, Indigo! Just . . . wow. Really loved it. In particular, I love this: "Good grief, have I become Agnostic while I wasn't paying attention?"
I see fireflies every year. I won't take them for granted anymore!

    1. Hey Dawn! Lovely to see you again. You know, I think I have shifted from Atheist to Agnostic; as I've grown older, a little bit of wisdom has crept in. That usually takes the form of "you don't know anywhere near as much as you think" with a big dollop of "listen to your mother, schmuck". There's hope for me yet. Indigo x

  11. Oh wow, how come I haven't stopped by sooner? I'm completely in love with the dreamy quality of this slightly surreal memory. A fantastic piece of writing if I ever saw one.

    1. Hey Ziva! Oh, I agree! We needed you here! Glad you made it tho, and thank you for the kind words. If you like the quirky, arty and occasionally sane, some keen folk think you're in the right place. Start here or here!. See you again! Indigo

  12. Fireflies are mystical magical creatures among whom, i believe, fairies hide... if it weren't so, i'd not have this photo ;)

    1. Hey Eolist! Your photo perplexes me as much as the first time I saw it. Common sense says it's a particularly hairy bug or an odd exposure, but it sure looks like the real thing to me. Still unsure what to make of those ones we took in the sequoia woods. Roth x
